  1. How long have you been in the industry? I have been in the industry for over 12 years.

  2. What is your current position and employer? Insurance producer at SIL/Towne Insurance Agency

  3. How long did it take you to obtain your CPCU? 2 years

  4. What do you like most about your job? Solving complex challenges and building relationships with clients as well as colleagues from the companies we represent

  5. Why or how did you start in the insurance industry? I have been at SIL since the beginning of my insurance career.  I am the 3rd generation with a career in insurance on my dad’s side, although that’s not where I started.  My first job out of college was financial/management consulting in the healthcare industry, which I did for 2 years before starting to look around at what else was out there.  My dad introduced me to Fred at SIL, and in talking to him, and knowing the business somewhat from my dad, I decided that insurance was the industry I wanted to move forward with in my career.  The more I learned about insurance, the more I realized how vital insurance is to the financial backbone of our society.

  6. Do you have any advice for anyone thinking of getting the designation? I would say if you want to make a career in insurance, getting CPCU gives you a huge advantage on understanding the various facets of our industry and getting ahead.  In getting a CPCU, you will get a deeper understanding of our complex industry; it is a challenging and worthwhile investment in yourself and your insurance career.

  7. What book did you read last? 1981

  8. What is your favorite restaurant? Akida Japanese Restaurant (Sushi)

  9. What college/university did you attend? Virginia Tech

  10. Tell us something about yourself outside of your insurance career. My wife and I have traveled to over 15 foreign countries since we got married in 2011, one way or another we find a way to make it happen.  We had our first baby (girl) born 9 weeks ago, and we are hoping that she inherited our passion for seeing the world!
